No Arena Rights, No Problem

Every year, EA Sports must contend with teams and arenas who do not send in the paperwork to allow their arena name to appear in the NHL series. When this happens, EA Sports is forced to leave it blank or put in some generic text stating the teams name or a fake arena. It certainly looks more authentic when they put text in rather than leave it blank, however I have made a bunch of concepts for some more stylized fake arena names. Most are nothing close to the real look of center ice, but that is also a legal issue that EA must face if they come too close.

As a reference, here are the teams that did not giving naming rights to EA Sports for NHL 13.
Boston - TD Garden
Carolina - PNC Arena
Chicago - United Center
Florida - BB&T Center (this was probably due to a late summer/early fall name change)
NY Islanders - Nassau Coliseum
NY Rangers - Madison Square Garden
San Jose - HP Pavilion

Who knows what NHL 14 will bring...

Check out the fake designs here.
