Get Well Soon Avs Goal Horn

Sunday, February 02, 2014
In the January 30th game at Pepsi Center against the Minnesota Wild, the Avalanche nearly destroyed their goal horn. I guess it really says something about a team that in the past has had troubles scoring. They are now tied for 5th in the league in goals this season and their goal horn is feeling the effects. Here is a compilation of goal horn audio from the game.

Hi, the goal horn here is an electric piston horn. I listened to your recordings. Yeah, it sounds off, like the power to its 3-phase motor is fluctuating. Normally this type will only sound when the piston reaches a certain speed that matches the resonance of the actual horn trumpet itself. Anyhow, this type horn is used on the largest vessels afloat. They are very powerful but lack the sharper timbre of a diaphragm air horn.

I messaged the team staff about this. They said that the Air tank was running low or somthing or the piston was broken.
